The Six of Wands
I pulled this card at Omoken Park coffee shop and while there, I talked with a talented young photographer named Yuya who was displaying his work at the shop.
I asked him for his reading of the card, and he wrote:
途中
夢の途中
まだ道はつづく。
“In the middle of a dream. Still, the path continues…”
The Six of Wands, known esoterically as the “Lord of Victory,” depicts a rider on a white horse, crowned with a laurel wreath and holding another aloft upon a staff. This is a card of success, recognition, and triumph, yet its deeper meanings invite us to reflect on the spiritual and personal dimensions of victory, as it can represent either external achievement or spiritual victory, or both.
The white horse symbolizes the taming of instincts, and its green garment speaks of grounding fiery ambition with connection to the natural world. True success is born from balance, harmony, and compassion, as symbolized by the number six, associated with Tiphareth (Beauty) on the Tree of Life in Atziluth (World of Fire). This reflects the harmonious integration of higher spiritual energy into action and achievement in the material realm.
The laurel wreath, sacred to Apollo, signifies more than recognition; it represents illumination and spiritual ascent. Its evergreen nature speaks to the enduring quality of true triumph. The red ribbon tying the wreath to the staff reminds us of the sacrifices and passion necessary for attainment, linking raw desire to higher purpose.
Astrologically, Six corresponds with the sun – the planetary energy that represents victory and success. This card is attributed to Jupiter in Leo, combining the expansive, benevolent energy of Jupiter with Leo’s charisma and courage. This blend enhances leadership, confidence, and the ability to inspire others.
The Six of Wands teaches us that victory is a milestone, not the end of the road. The rider’s forward gaze acknowledges the next challenge on the horizon. It is a moment of celebration and recognition, but also a reminder to remain grounded, humble, and aligned with your higher mission.
The crowd in the background emphasizes that while public acknowledgment is present, the true victory lies within—in the integration of inner mastery with outward expression.
The Six of Wands invites you to celebrate your successes and recognize them as reflections of your alignment with the divine. But it also challenges you to balance confidence with humility and gratitude. Offer your victories as a dedication to something higher, and let them inspire your next step on the journey.
